Worldsensing presents advances in Fastprk2 innovation project at Telefónica’s stand and at the GSMA Innovation City
The Operational Intelligence solutions provider, Worldsensing, will showcase its Parking Management System Fastprk and innovation project Fastprk2 at Mobile World Congress 2017 (MWC) in Barcelona. While the wireless Fastprk solution has been running on LoRa and Sigfox, a new version of Fastprk2 with NB-IoT (Narrowband IoT) communications will be demonstrated.
“We are delighted to announce this milestone in the development of the Fastprk2 solution”, explains Ignasi Vilajosana, CEO and co-founder of Worldsensing.
NB-IoT to be demonstrated at the Telefónica stand and at the GSMA Innovation City
At the world’s largest gathering for the mobile industry from February 27th to March 2nd in Barcelona, a demo of the Fastprk2 parking sensors using NB-IoT technology will be shown at both the Telefónica booth and at the GSMA Innovation City. The latter will also display another Worldsensing system enabling cities to integrate parking management technology: Mobility, its City Operational Intelligence Solution.
Mobility allows cities to connect all systems their operations currently run on, such as information on parking occupancy, traffic flow, incidents, police officers and road works, and empowers authorities to gain real time visibility and control over everything that is happening.
Combining several sensor technologies for vehicle detection
Running on narrowband networks and being able to provide better system connectivity in general are not the only benefits of the Fastprk2 solution. The project additionally aims to enhance the accuracy with which vehicles are captured. By combining more than one sensing technology to detect parked cars, the system will improve parking monitoring reliability. Especially in cities where sensors are exposed to a broad range of influencing factors and weather conditions, being able to work with more than one sensor type will increase the accuracy of real-time parking space monitoring for both parking operators and cities.
Live LoRa demo on Tech Data stand
Tech Data, a global player for IT products and services, will also set up a live demo of the Fastprk parking sensors running on LoRa and the corresponding software suite. With a remote controlled car that will be parked on one of the two available parking spaces, the Fastprk application will show MWC visitors real-time detection of occupancy.
Experience from monitoring 20,000 parking spaces worldwide
Knowing how to optimize its Parking Management System is based on Worldsensing’s experience of many years. The company has already installed and monitored over 20,000 smart parking spaces globally. Across all its deployments, the parking solution has significantly reduced inner-city traffic, facilitated optimal management of urban parking areas, and reduced CO2 emissions. Smart parking projects have been rolled out in North America, France, Italy, Poland, Austria, Singapore, the UAE, Spain and Germany.
Co-financed by the European Union
The Fastprk2 innovation project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under the grant agreement No 726607.
